Indonesia Successfully Holds the GPDRR 2022 in Nusa Dua Bali

VIVA – The Government of Indonesia is known to have held the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2022 in Nusa Dua Bali on May 23-28, 2022. The 7th GPDRR event was considered a success because this event went on without significant obstacles and hitch.

"Indonesia has succeeded in hold the 2022 GPDRR despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General Suharyanto, during a press conference to close the 7th GPDRR in Nusa Dua Bali, quoted on Monday, May 30. 2022.

Suharyanto said that success could not have happened without hard work and contributions from all ministries and institutions, civil society, business institutions, academics, and the media.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Information and Public Communication, Usman Kansong said that from the beginning the government had seen the problem of infrastructure and public communication as one of the successes in organizing this activity. So, from the beginning they had prepared very well.

“From the beginning, we designed a media center that is able to bridge the information needs of journalists. Of course, this is supported by other supporting infrastructure. We will help all the needs of journalists when they are reporting with a smile and friendliness," said Usman Kansong.

The GPDRR 2022 event held in Indonesia was also commented on by foreign journalists. Foreign journalists confessed the benefits and conveniences provided by the media center in the GPDRR event in Bali. The level of accuracy and speed of information is very helpful for journalists in carrying out their duties.

"I speak for the 22 journalists organized by the union group where I work. We are all happy to be here," said Union Head of SG Department Asia-Pacific Broadcasting, Natalia Ilieva.

"Everything has worked well and most importantly, everyone is very helpful. So, accommodating, whatever it may be," continued Natalia.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in particular the Director General of Information and Public Communication is in charge of organizing Public Communications in the 7th GPDRR event in Nusa Dua Bali.

Its jobs are not only to provide a media center, but also to ensure that the results achieved in this activity can be disseminated to the public and the media in particular to be amplified to the world community.

“So, we are not just a media center operator. I have instructed my friends to build good media relations with the media to ensure that the results achieved can be spread quickly and accurately, not only to local media but also to foreign media," said Usman.

He also added that the seven recommendations made in the GPDRR in Bali must be supported as a solution for disaster mitigation in the world. For that, he is very grateful to the national and international journalists who helped spread the results of the 7th GPDRR 2022.
