Vice President Appreciates Human Resources Improvement in Papua

Papua – The Indonesian Vice President Maruf Amin visited the students of Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Nemangkawi Mining Institute (IPN) located in Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

He said that he has seen the implementation of the Nemangkawi training center as a place to train indigenous Papuan children to improve their skills in order to become a workforce that has adequate quality.

"I saw that it was extraordinary, there are 15 training branches, and not only for Freeport," the Vice President said as quoted from Instagram @freeportindonesia on Friday.

Therefore, the Vice President expressed his appreciation for the efforts made at the Nemangkawi Mining Institute, in order to advance the human resources of the Papuan people.

"For that I express my appreciation. Because this is also the role of the private sector, which can improve the quality of Papuan children in particular, and also Indonesia in general," 

On the same occasion, President Director of Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), Tony Wenas emphasized that the education sector is one of the main things in PTFI's program, so indigenous Papuans can continue to improve the quality of their education.

"And we have proven this with our trainings, both for prospective employees, employees, and even the general public," Wenas said. 

As a result of the trainings that PTFI has conducted so far, heconfirmed that until now within Freeport, there are several board members who are indigenous Papuans, there are 9 vice presidents who are indigenous Papuans, there are more than 130 managerial levels occupied by indigenous Papuans.

"And, we will continue to increase this. Of course, through cooperation with the Mimika Regency Government and Central Papua Province," he added.
