KPK Fires 66 Employees Who Accepted Bribes from Inmates

Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has fired 66 employees of the Commission’s detention center who were accepted the bribes from inmates.

KPK Head of News, Ali Fikri said that the dismissal was carried out by the KPK on Tuesday (April 23).

"The KPK has submitted dismissal decrees to 66 employees who were accepetd bribes from inmates at the Commission's Detention Center," Ali Fikri said.

He explained that the decision was made based on the results of a disciplinary examination of KPK civil servants involved in the Commission's detention center extortion case on April 2, 2024.

The examination also involved direct superiors, supervisory elements and staffing elements.

Then, dozens of employees were proven to have violated PP 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline, namely Article 4 letter i; Article 5 letter a; and Article 5 letter k.

"Furthermore, on April 17, 2024, the Secretary General of the KPK as the Personnel Supervisory Officer issued a Decree on Disciplinary Punishment in the form of dismissal as a civil servant, as regulated in article 8 paragraph (4) letter c of PP 94 of 2021," Fikri remarked.

The spokesman with a prosecutor's background said that the dismissal was effective on the 15th day after the decision on disciplinary punishment was handed over to the employees.

"The decision to dismiss these employees is part of the KPK's commitment to complete the handling of internal violations to completion and zero tolerance for corrupt practices," he stated.

In the Commission's Detention Center extortion case, 15 people have become suspects. A total of 93 employees have also been given ethical sanctions by the KPK supervisory council.
