VIVA – Penghargaan Film Akademi Inggris ke-74 atau BAFTA Awards baru saja selesai digelar. Digelar secara virtual selama dua malam 10-11 April BAFTA Awards 2021 dibawakan oleh presenter radio dan TV, Clara Amfo pada hari Sabtu, sementara Edith Bowman dan Dermot O’Leary menjadi host di acara hari Minggu.
Amfo membuka malam pertama dengan membacakan penghormatan kepada Pangeran Philip, yang meninggal pada hari Jumat, 9 April 2021 di usia 99 tahun.
"Atas nama BAFTA, kami sangat sedih dengan meninggalnya Yang Mulia Pangeran Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, pada hari Jumat. Duke adalah presiden pertama BAFTA lebih dari 60 tahun yang lalu dan merupakan yang pertama dari garis patronase kerajaan," ujar dikutip dari Entertainment Tonight, Senin, 12 April 2021.
"Dukungan Pangeran Philip dan Yang Mulia Ratu selama tahun-tahun ini yang dalam banyak hal memungkinkan BAFTA, sebuah badan amal terkemuka di bidang seni, untuk berlanjut di masa-masa sulit dan berada di sini hari ini pada tahun 2021. Duke of Edinburgh memiliki tempat yang sangat istimewa dalam sejarah BAFTA dan dia akan dirindukan. Doa kami untuk keluarganya," lanjutnya.
Pangeran William sendiri seharus dijadwalkan tampil di acara ini, tetapi batal karena kematian sang kakek.
