VIVA – The Traffic Director of Jaya Metro Police, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo conveyed traffic engineering in anticipation of the May Day Fiesta, in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta on today, May 14, 2022. Around 65.000 demonstrators will join the May Day Fiesta.
"Tomorrow's first engineering, Jakarta residents shouldn’t exercise at GBK in the morning, because from this morning the mass of demonstrators will arrive in GBK. There are approximately thousands of buses that will enter GBK," said Sambodo in his statement at the Jaya Metro Police on Friday, May 13, 2022.
Sambodo said the traffic closures around the Gelora Bung Karno area were still situational and to anticipate this, Jaya Metro Police prepared traffic engineering for avoid the congestion eveywhere.
"Not yet, we don't close GBK, except when it gets stuck, then we will make transfers," said Sambodo.
Furthermore, Sambodo suggested to the public, if there was a traffic jam around the GBK area, his team had prepared a number of road points starting from Sudirman to Thamrin.
"For example Sudirman-Thamrin looks very crowded, then those from Sisingamangaraja direction we will turn to Pakubuwono or later we will direct them, if they want to go north later they can pass through Kuningan, later via Wijaya Tendean, later directly to Kuningan," he said.
Besides from Sudirman - Thamrin, the point of the road segment from the Semanggi direction will be prepared for traffic engineering in case of severe congestion.

"Then from Semanggi, we will try for example they cannot turn towards GBK, but we will straighten it out in front of the House of representatives or locally known as DPR. So, don't forget that from morning until noon in front of the House of Representative and People’s Consultative Assembly or locally known as MPR, there will also be demonstrations, then it should be avoided as well. the area," he said.
Sambodo Yogo also said that for traffic engineering there are three doors that are used.
"Then we will look at the transfer situation situationally, but there are three doors that we will use, starting from door 10 from the direction of TVRI, door 7, and if the two doors are looking crowded, we will use door 5 which is opposite GBK," said Sambodo.
For parking lots, the police also provide parking spaces for the mass of laborers who will come. There is a division of parking spaces according to the direction of the demonstrators who come.
"We have prepared parking lots, later we plan for workers who come from West Java, meaning those from Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta, maybe Bogor, we will place them in the east parking lot," he said.
"Then for workers from Jakarta Province, workers in PuloGadung and its surroundings, we will give them place on Ring Road in the GBK area, while for workers from Banten, Greater Tangerang and surrounding areas, we will place them in the Asia-Africa basin." he added.
Then, motorcycle users and private vehicles will be placed in different parking lots.
"For motorbikes, we will place them in the ABC parking lot. As for private vehicles, we will place them in the Istora parking lot," said Sambodo.
The May Day Fiesta will start with an action in front of the DPR building from 10 AM to 12 AM. Then, continued with the May Day Fiesta at GBK from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The activity will be attended by 4 labor confederations, namely the Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions or locally known as KSPSI, the Confederation of Indonesian Workers' Struggle or locally known as KPBI and the Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions or locally known as KBSI.
